Our office accepts interns during the spring, fall, and summer. While assisting with all aspects of the office, interns can focus on either legislative affairs, traditional and digital communications, or state outreach and casework.
Our office offers internship positions in Senator Kelly’s Washington, D.C. and Arizona offices. To apply, please select the appropriate internship application below. All internship applicants must apply through Senator Kelly’s online application.
The application deadlines are as follows:

If you wish to be considered for an internship position, your application must be submitted and completed by the appropriate deadline.
All internship positions are expected to be in-person and interns are required to work a minimum of 15 to 20 hours. However, summer internship positions are expected to be full-time. Please note that due to the high volume of applicants, only applicants who are moving forward to the next step in the process will be notified.

Who can be considered for an internship position?
The internship program is designed for undergraduate, recent graduates, and graduate students. College students who are from Arizona or attend Arizona schools are given first preference, and students of all majors are encouraged to apply, but should possess a demonstrated interest in public service and American politics.
What are the internship dates?
Fall and spring schedules vary depending on availability. Summer sessions typically will begin in late May/early June through August.
Are stipends offered or are internship positions paid?
Internships in Senator Kelly’s office are paid at an hourly rate of $15.
To be eligible for compensation, the United States Senate requires that individuals be authorized to work in the United States, and pursuant to federal law, be a U.S. Citizen or meet one of three limited exceptions. If you have questions regarding this, please email email@example.com.
Does an intern earn academic credit?
Students wishing to receive academic credit should check with their college/university programs for requirements.
What does an intern do?
Duties can vary day-to-day, but generally, interns have the opportunity to attend hearings and briefings, assist with research projects, draft correspondence, and help with administrative tasks, such as providing phone support for the office.
What types of qualities do you seek in an intern?
Interns who possess strong leadership skills, thoughtfulness, attention to detail, and a positive attitude excel in internship positions. In addition, interns who exhibit academic excellence and an interest in public service will also benefit from an internship position.
