WATCH: Kelly Joins CBS, MSNBC to Discuss Iran’s Attacks on Israel, Arizona Abortion Decision

This weekend, Arizona Senator and U.S. Navy combat veteran Mark Kelly joined CBS’ ‘Face the Nation’ and MSNBC’s ‘Inside with Jen Psaki’ to emphasize U.S. support for Israel and highlight the importance of preventing a wider regional conflict. Kelly, who sits on the Senate Armed Services Committee and the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, also talked about the urgency to pass the national security package that the Senate sent to the House of Representatives two months ago to support Israel, Ukraine, and Taiwan.

Additionally, Kelly discussed the impact of the Arizona Supreme Court abortion decision on women and doctors in the state.

Sen. Kelly on CBS’ ‘Face the Nation’

On threats from Iran, China, and Russia and passing the national security supplemental

This is all connected. Iran, Ukraine, China. The stock of Ukrainian ammunition is dwindling. They’re going to run out of ammunition. Russia’s capacity—we look at this all the time—is going up. With the help of China, Russia can win this. If we support Ukraine, Ukraine can win. We passed an emergency supplemental two months ago. It’s sitting on the Speaker’s desk. He should bring that to the floor tomorrow night. Get it passed. This is also going to help Israel.

On the Arizona Supreme Court decision to uphold an 1864 abortion law

Let me start by saying this has been a disaster for women in Arizona. They’ve lost the fundamental right to abortion, and it’s all because of Donald Trump. And our legislature, yeah, they tried to fix this a couple of days ago—that did not work. We’ve got ballot initiative in November to fix this. Donald Trump owns this. He said just yesterday that he broke Roe v. Wade, and because he did that, this enabled our court to bring back this draconian 1864 law to take away this right, send doctors to jail.

I also want to point out, Margaret, that I don’t think this represents who we are in the state of Arizona. This is a moment in time. We’re going to get through this.

Sen. Kelly on MSNBC’s ‘Inside with Jen Psaki’

On risk of escalation in the Middle East

We don’t want to see this to escalate. We don’t want a wider conflict in the region where not only Israel, our ally, continues to be at risk, but it puts our own forces at risk. You know, last night was a serious escalation by the Iranians.

On the national security package passed by the Senate

Two months ago, Jen, we passed with strong bipartisan support in the Senate an emergency supplemental that has aid for Israel, Ukraine, humanitarian aid, other things. It’s sitting there. It’s ready to go. It has bipartisan support in the House of Representatives. All the Speaker has to do is bring that to the floor for a vote and it will pass. The President could sign it Monday.

On the Arizona Supreme Court abortion ruling and Trump getting rid of Roe v. Wade

Let me start by saying this has been a disaster for women in Arizona. Arizona women deserve the right to make their own decision about abortion—that ended. And that’s because of Donald Trump. And then the legislature failed on doing something on this this week to fix it. We have an 1864 law now that will soon be the law of the land. It’s draconian. It punishes doctors, possibly sending them to jail for two to five years. It prohibits abortions, you know, right from the beginning of a pregnancy—even in the case of rape and incest. It is one of the worst things, I think, that’s happened in the state of Arizona—since I’ve been in office, certainly. And it’s all because of the former president.
