Kelly Statement After Republicans Block Extension of Health Care Tax Credits
Today, Arizona Senator Mark Kelly released the following statement after Senate Republicans voted to block an extension of the Affordable Care Act premium tax credits, ensuring health care costs for millions of Americans to skyrocket starting January 1st:
“Today’s vote came down to a simple choice: protect working families from skyrocketing health care costs or let premiums double or even triple. Unfortunately, just as they have done for months, Republicans chose higher prices for Americans.
“Arizona families are already stretched thin, trying to afford groceries, gas, rent, and basic necessities in the face of Trump’s tariffs and rising costs. And now more than 300,000 Arizonans will face crushing premium increases in a matter of weeks—with some unable to afford coverage at all.
“The only way to fix this is by working together, and I’m ready to sit down with anyone to find solutions so that Arizonans can afford the health care they need.”
