Kelly, Scott Lead Bipartisan Resolution Recognizing May as Older Americans Month
This week, Senators Mark Kelly (D-AZ) and Rick Scott (R-FL), Member and Chairman of the Senate Special Committee on Aging, led the introduction and unanimous passage of a bipartisan resolution recognizing May 2025 as Older Americans Month. The bill is cosponsored by Aging Committee Ranking Member Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY); committee members Jon Husted (R-OH), Jim Justice (R-WV), Andy Kim (D-NJ), Dave McCormick (R-PA), Ashley Moody (R-FL), Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), and Raphael Warnock (D-GA); as well as Susan Collins (R-ME).
“This month we celebrate older Americans and the contributions they have made to their families, communities, state, and our country over their lifetimes. These folks deserve to retire with dignity, and that’s why I’ll continue to defend access to the services and resources older Americans have earned,” said Kelly.
“I am proud to lead this bipartisan resolution with my colleagues to recognize May 2025 as Older Americans Month. As Chair of the Special Committee on Aging, I am committed to honoring the contributions of more than 59 million older Americans who enrich our communities with their wisdom, service, and experience. From supporting programs under the Older Americans Act to ensuring access to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, we must continue working to protect the financial security and well-being of our aging population and recognize them as vital members of our society,” said Scott.
