ICYMI: In Phoenix, Kelly Visits Benchmark to See Tariff Impacts, Provides Capitol Hill Update to Arizona Leaders
In case you missed it, Arizona Senator Mark Kelly spent the day yesterday in Phoenix meeting with workers and business leaders to hear firsthand how recent policy changes are impacting Arizona families and the economy, and to share his work in Washington to push back on harmful tariffs and protect essential programs that Arizonans depend on, like Medicaid.

At Benchmark Electronics, an advanced electronics manufacturer in Phoenix, Kelly toured the facility and met with company leadership and workers to discuss the impact of the Trump administration’s sweeping new tariffs. Benchmark’s operations support sectors like aerospace, defense, and medical technology—industries that rely heavily on global supply chains. The company expressed concerns about how new tariffs are driving up costs, disrupting operations, and creating economic uncertainty for them and their customers.
Earlier in the day, Kelly and Senator Ruben Gallego attended a luncheon at the Arizona Chamber of Commerce with local business leaders and stakeholders to provide the annual “Capitol Hill” update, where they shared their work in Washington to protect Arizona’s economy and health care system. There, Kelly highlighted the serious consequences of proposed Medicaid cuts under the Trump administration’s budget plan—warning that reductions to Arizona’s Medicaid program, AHCCCS, would eliminate coverage for thousands of Arizona families and seniors and strain hospitals and providers across the region.
Kelly has been sounding the alarm on the devastating impact these cuts would have. Last month, he held town halls in Scottsdale and Tucson to hear directly from families, caregivers, and health care providers who rely on AHCCCS for life-saving care. Kelly shared that he will continue bringing those voices to Washington to make clear what’s at stake.
